Head Women's Soccer
Coach Erin Sharpe

Erin Sharpe begins her fourth season at the helm of the women’s soccer program. Sharpe is the second head coach in the program’s 16 year history.

Despite posting a 5-10-3 record in 2010, the Mavericks earned their highest NSCAA national ranking in many years, coming in at #22 in the early part of the season.  Of the Mavericks 10 losses in 2010, six contests were dropped by just one goal and the remaining four losses by two goals. MSC ranked fourth in the conference in goals allowed (22) and fourth in shutouts (5). The Mavericks ranked fifth in Goals Against Average, allowing 1.17 goals per game.

Five student-athletes were recognized on the RMAC Academic Honor Roll in the 2010 campaign, while Freshman Samantha Burneo and junior Sara Islas earned All-Conference honors.

In 2009 the Mavericks earned their second consecutive Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference post season tournament berth, and were ranked in the top 10 of the Central Region every week of the regular season (NSCAA/adidas Senior College Rankings). Under Sharpe’s guidance MSC finished fifth overall in league action going 2-0-1 in the final three games of the regular season to earn the tournaments fifth seed. The Mavericks drew number four seed Regis in round one, falling to the Rangers 1-0. MSC started the season 5-1 with regional victories over Winona State, Wayne State and CSU-San Bernardino.

Three players earned RMAC All-Conference honors including first team selection Daniela Ramirez. Post season honors for Ramirez included Daktronics All-Region Second Team and NSCAA All-Region Third Team.

RMAC Academic honors were awarded to four student-athletes who were awarded for their on-field achievements, in conjunction with maintaining an overall GPA of 3.2 or higher.

In 2008 Coach Sharpe led the Mavericks to a 12-9-1 overall record, the best by a first year head soccer coach at Mesa State.  Additionally, the 2008 Mavericks received a bid into the 2008 RMAC tournament as a result of their successful regular season conference run.  The Mavericks were ranked in the top 10 of the Central Region (NSCAA/adidas Senior College Rankings) from the second week of the season, through the end of their 2008 campaign.

In 2008 the Mavericks won 5 of their first 6 games and posted an impressive 9-4 overall road record. Under Coach Sharpe’s guidance, MSC placed four players on all-conference teams and two players earned all-region honors.

Sharpe has coached at various levels in the states of Colorado and California, including Head Coach of the San Juan Soccer Club U-14 girls’ team, which was ranked #1 in the country, and won the 2008 Youth National Championship.
